I am broken.
You are broken.
Our society is broken.
The thing is, it is from someone's brokenness that things like Charlottesville happen. Because rather than people laying down their brokenness and choosing to love, they allow the discontent that comes with being broken flow out of them, putting others down in an attempt to build themselves up.
This is not who we were made to be or what we were made to do.
In society there is a fictitious ladder placing people over people and people below people. It does nothing but feed the belief that some people are better than others. That is a lie.
In God's eyes, we all are standing beside one another, not one of us is greater, not one is lesser than another. This is truth.
Who were we made to be?
A vessel for love.
What were we made to do?
We are certainly not here to judge or tear each other down. We are here to encourage one another and build each other up to be the unique people we were made to be.
Yes, we are all broken. But there is a choice with what we can do with our brokenness, we can lay it down and choose to be a vessel for love or we can allow the discontent that comes from being broken to flow out of us through our words and actions bringing darkness into the world.
I choose the former.
I choose to lay down my brokenness.
I choose to be a vessel for love today meeting people beyond the surface and at their hearts where their truth resides.
I choose to live out love through my words and actions.
It will not always be the easiest choice but it is what will fight back against the darkness.
And you? What will you choose today?
I invite you to join me to...
Pause. Breathe. Pray.
Let's not allow our brokenness to create more darkness. Let's lay it down. Let us choose to pick up love and implant that into our hearts. We are here to fight against the darkness by aligning with love and shining the light of love into our homes, schools, places of work, and communities. We are to be like a lighthouse shining light into the darkness, coming beside those in need, doing what we can when we can to help others and lighten one another's burdens.
Yes, we may be broken, but it is because of our brokenness that light can shine through us☀️
With love and hope,
"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:14-16
