🇺🇸The Fourth of July🇺🇸
The thing about this day is I can easily forget that behind all the celebrations, food, sparklers and fireworks there lies a truth that can be left unseen or thought of during the day; that freedom is never free.
During my stay in Boston I was intrigued by the depth of history in the city. From visiting the North church to the Bunker Hill memorial, I was reminded that there were so many lives lost to gain our independence. Some of these pictures are from outside the North Church of a Memorial Garden and it is a reminder than our freedom still isn't free. Scroll through the pictures and see the unmarked dog tags that represent military men and women who have lost their lives since 2001.
The total to date? 6,919.
And that is just American lives.
As we attend the BBQ's with our family and friends today, let's remember to take a moment to...
Pause. Breathe. Pray.
And give thanks to those who fought, who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to those who continue to fight to this day, so we can continue to live with the freedoms we are privileged to have.
May we never take our freedom for granted.
With a humbled and grateful heart,
