This moment brought me grateful tears. Jan, the illustrator, of A Place for Sam, and another teacher surprised me with this gift.
The elementary school where they teach, and where my middle child goes, chose A Place for Sam as a book for the school to read because it aligned with their character education curriculum. Each class read Sam's story and then each child designed their own puzzle piece that Jan had created.
Yesterday my thoughtful friends, who were hanging up the puzzle pieces, invited me to come and see this mural that was created out of all the puzzle pieces.
Isn't it beautiful?!?!😍
Each puzzle piece decorated with each child's thoughtful design. I just love it! Look at it...every piece is unique - just like each child is! In a world with people conforming to be like others, I hope Sam's message, of being your unique self, stays in their hearts💖
With this mural now every child can visually see how their piece of the puzzle matters for their schools puzzle to be complete💝
I can't even begin to express how much joy this brings me! And to know Sam's message is still being shared - even when I can't share it myself right now - is such a blessing.
Thank you for sharing in my joy this morning!
Oh and one more joyful nugget...
My friend, Allison, has been passing Sam out like candy in Australia and she shared with me that her dear friend is going to a Syrian refugee camp and A Place for Sam going with her💝
To know Sam's message is being shared from a small suburban town to Syrian refugees is fuel in my tank💞 I hope Sam's message captures each child's (and adult's) heart who reads A Place for Sam and they absorb how unique, valuable and loved they are😊
