When I sit and think about the courageous men and women who served, and currently serve, our country I am overwhelmed with gratitude. When I think of those who never came home, and their families sacrifice, it inspires me to take the blessing of this life I have been given, and live it fully.
Memorial Day weekend is filled with parties, shopping sales and other activities. I offer to you to take a minute, two minutes, ten minutes, or more, to spend time in silence absorbing the truth behind this three day weekend. Read articles about someone's story, pray for the families who mourn this weekend, go to a memorial day parade or drive through a cemetery and see how many people served our country. (Although not all passed away while serving, it is a beautiful sight to see how many people took time out of their lives to serve our country.)
Take time today to:
Pause. Breathe. Pray.
And give thanks for those who sacrificed their life for ours.
"There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends." - John 15:13
Be well,
Shawn
