For the majority of my life I wanted to be anyone but me, inside and out. I wanted to have this person's funny personality, that person's abs, that person's narrow shoulders, that person's intellect, etc. It has been a journey for me to realize I was born to be me. The more I try to be like others, the less I am living as the person I was designed to be…and the less content my heart and mind are.
God made us each beautifully unique. Once I realized that I was specifically made to be who I am, I started the slow and gradual process of embracing who I am, inside and out. I am doing my best every day to grow confident in my own skin. What I have noticed is when I embrace who I am, and stop comparing myself with others, I have more peace growing in my heart and mind.
When we each start living as the person we were created to be, the greater peace we have within. And when we are more at peace within, that is what flows from us onto others. What a gift to ourselves, and to those who we interact with throughout our days.
And how about you? Are you trying to change who you are, inside and/or out, or are you growing confident and embracing who you were made to be?
I encourage both of us today "to be courageous and grow up into the person you were made to be."
