This money holds a special place in my heart.
A mother and daughter have been coming to my yoga classes for a couple of years. The classes are donation only. Last year they arrived one morning and the daughter put two quarters into the donation bowl. The mother explained that her daughter had brought her own money to donate that morning. It warmed my heart. I put those two quarters in my prayer box as a reminder of this little girl's generous gift.
A couple weeks ago the mother arrived at my class without her daughter. Although her daughter was not taking the class that day, she sent along the "dollar" pictured above with her mother to donate.
I hold onto these generous donations as a reminder that when giving it doesn't matter what you give or how much it cost.
What matters is what you give comes from the heart.
Those are the most precious gifts one can give, and one can receive.
So wear those colored-pasta necklaces and crazy ties, drink from your decorated mugs, hang up those hand made pictures and put those 'I love you' notes in a place you will see them as a reminder that the most precious gifts we will ever receive are the gifts from the heart.
